Technology of monolithic concrete may provide post-tensioning of reinforcement by stretching (tensioning) reinforcement in the concrete (post-tensioning).
The particular technology is as follows: high-strength steel tendons together with ordinary reinforcement bars are placed into the mould before pouring the concrete and both ends of the tendons are anchored providing transfer of the tension to the concrete during the tensioning process. After pouring the concrete and reaching the required concrete hardness, a tensioning of tendons is carried out by means of hydraulic jacks. Due to the constant tensioning, a construction of reinforced concrete has improved parameters of resistance and capability of withstanding the loads caused by tensile which may result formation of cracks in an ordinary reinforced concrete structures.
